So this is my first trip to Las Vegas. And I’m used to taking one way flights. Well this time, I scheduled a flight with a layover. The layover is in Denver, CO and it’s about 14 hours until we get on the flight to Vegas. UGH! I was looking forward to a straight flight to Vegas so that I can enjoy my little vacation right away. However, I had to prepare myself for this minor delay in Denver.
I chose to wear this comfy lounge set. I got this set from my girl at plasticsboutique.co. This yellow “Making Me Angry” set is perfect to wear in an airport all day. Before this vacation started, I wanted to wear jeans and then I remembered that I will be in an airport for almost half a day, so I would need to wear something comfortable and cute.
My girl’s online boutique is a great place to shop for newer trends and styles for all you fashionistas. I think this lounge set is great for this layover. It’s a two piece set that is comfortable enough to sleep, walk, and rest in if you’re going to be at an airport for more than 12 hours. Ladies if you need ideas for an outfit for the airport, go with a comfortable style. Something that will be easy to put on or take off, in case of constant runs to the bathroom. Also, keep in mind if you have to rest (nap) during your layover make sure what you’re wearing is not only comfortable, but something that will not get wrinkled fast.
You also don’t want to appear as if you’ve been in airport all day. Taking a second look at me you wouldn’t have thought I camped out in the airport for more than 12 hours. A couple of things to keep in mind, is if you have a carry on, you may want to keep a hoodie or sweater in it. If you’re someone like me, I get cold real fast. And of course the airport has the a/c up high as hell. Also pair your lounge set with some comfy low top tennis shoes. I’m not really big on tennis shoes anymore. But this was a good choice of shoe for the airport. One thing about wearing tennis shoes, is when you take your shoes off to go through security you will be wearing socks so your bare feet don’t have to touch the ground.
I’m all for going on vacations, but these layovers…. When choosing your attire for a flight or a flight with a crazy layover like the one I had, please be sure to dress comfortably.
Hey ladies!! I’m so excited to be featuring my girl Angel’s new boutique… “Plastics Boutique”. It’s a new boutique with the latest looks for an affordable price. This boutique is sure to boost your confidence!!!
I think fashion brings women power, not only within themselves but in their workplace. When I think of fashion I think of making a difference for myself. I want my fashionable trends to have an impact not only for women but for the world as well.
This “Python Bodysuit” fits perfect. It’s stretchy material is great for all body types. You can wear this bodysuit with jeans or even shorts Of course you can find it on http://www.plasticsboutique.co . I paired it with this “Boot Camp Skirt” from Fashion Nova. You know I love some Fashion Nova.
I paired these black pan leather boots and small purse to accessorize the outfit and bring it all together. This outfit is sure to boost your confidence whether you’re going out to a club or just want to dress and go to an event.
Let me know your thoughts when you’re putting your outfits and looks together. How do you decide what boosts your confidence??
It’s been one year since I’ve been in a physical altercation with my sons’ father. At one point I didn’t think it was an issue to put hands on each other. But I as I reflect on the toxic relationship, I didn’t have a clear understanding of “love”. Throughout this journey with Making Munee, I’ve learned to not only love myself but maintain that confidence in my life. Confidence was one thing I was lacking.
There was a time in life, where I wasn’t satisfied with how I was living. I was overworking myself, trying to finish college, taking care of y two sons all while being in a toxic relationship. And around this time last year, I felt that I had been through enough. I just began my blog, but I wasn’t fully committed to staying confident. I had let myself fall back into some old habits. I do want to say I am doing better than ever. The feeling I have when I look back on my life, is a feeling of relief.
There are so many burdens that have been lifted, I feel like there is no turning back. With each blog post my confidence boosts to a ten!! I try to create a look that not only compliments my self, but also helps with boosting my confidence. Whether it be a dress, legging, or even the hottest shoes. Every article of clothing I put together creates an outfit that displays the confidence I have. I got this “Fawn White Feather Skirt Bodycon Dress” from Pretty Little Thing.
Im backkk!! It’s been a while since I’ve really had the time to come and discuss what I’m wearing and how I’m feeling. Im focusing on positivity and remaining stress free in life.
There are so many things I have to deal with in a week, whether it’s work (12 hour shifts), being a mom, focusing on goals, and building my brand, that I’ve learned I need to balance it all without stressing myself out in the process. Most often I’m always panicking about where my life needs to be. I’m continually working on being positive and I strongly believe in giving myself a break.
So here I am embracing the sun and welcoming the spring weather with this “Hot Pink” jumpsuit from Fashion Nova. I’m trying think positive with learning my own personal style more and more. I usually prefer a one piece, it’s more convenient when you’re getting dressed. I added these high top tennis shoes from Ego Shoes and this stylish clear backpack from Walmart. Check that out, Walmart I was amazed with the style. This translucent effect allows you to show off whatever you add in your backpack. This look can easily be worn to a basketball game or a fashion show. Any event where you would enjoy flaunting those curves in this one piece jumpsuit.
Today marks two years since I began this journey with confidence and starting this fashion blog! At this point I’m going to continue to embrace this confidence and continuing to stay positive. I’m going to continue to show off this confidence with what I’m wearing…
Now that the snow is clearing up, I can finally start thinking “Spring”. With this Cleveland weather all over the place at times, it’s hard to fully say it’s Spring. It’s actually supposed to snow this week, but I won’t even start thinking about that again. Because it’s officially Spring, I say bring out those colors. Vibrant and bright!! When Spring hits I’m sure you’ll catch me in all kinds of colors with the brightest hues.
I’m kicking this Spring off with orange! I couldn’t wait to style this “Stayed For a Suede Skirt” I got from Fashion Nova. Actually, the exact color is “rust”. This skirt fits my frame so cute. I thought it might be hard getting it on, but the material is actually stretchy. I figured once the weather breaks, it’s more skirts and dresses that I will be pulling out to wear.
A lot of you look at your wardrobe and probably say “I only own black clothing”. And there’s nothing wrong with it, I used to have a lot of black items. Matter of fact I still do. But when you add colors to your style you’re creating bold outfits that anyone of you can show off. I know some of you may not be comfortable with mixing colors. But that’s exactly why I have this skirt acting as the accent piece to this outfit. The skirt is bright enough to create a look where you can only have to use one color. This bold color is sure to turn some heads. It’s perfect to wear to a bridal shower, baby shower, or even that business meeting that you have coming up.
I created this look to have the skirt as the main piece. I used black and white to add contrast. I paired the skirt with this t-shirt crop top to dress the look down. The pant leather boots and purse created an urban touch to the look, bringing it all together to create my runway look. I’m going to call it “street chic”. Now there are many ways to style this skirt. But the key is adding just enough color to your style. Many women gravitate towards black, white, and gray. Which is safe. But to be bold, you have to add some color to your look.
This floppy hat was added as a fashionable accessory. It gives me that confidence I need to make this outfit complete. Walking down the street in this outfit is sure to turn some heads. These mid-high boots provide a great balance to stride. Oh and if you haven’t caught the blog post about comfortability, be sure to check it out!
As a business woman, I am the first to say style and confidence comes first when it’s dealing with my attire. Presently, business casual is the dress code for work. I am usually wearing dress pants, blouses, blazers, skirts, etc. You know the essentials for a young black professional woman. Sometimes there are times when I have to wear the outfit I wore to work to an event that same day. Or maybe by the time I’m off there’s barely enough time to throw a completely different outfit together and leave out again. So here are some key tips on transforming your work attire for an evening event outfit.
The outfit you wear to work, should contain a simple top. Something that can be easily changed or where you can just add some accessories to dress it up a little. For this look I’m wearing a basic long sleeve black top with a crew neck. Keeping it simple for the office look. Once you’re off, there can be an easy switch with the tops. I added this “Show You My Tricks Bralette” from Fashion Nova for the evening look to add some sexy. Depending on the evening event; date night, concert, or even a late dinner party with the girls, this bralette is sure to bring sexy back to this business “look”.
Go bold with colors! Make sure the colors you’re wearing are bold enough to dress up once you move on to the next event. I chose lavender for this look. I’m wearing this Jessica Slinky Tapered Trouser Duster Co-Ord from Boohoo for a professional look. Plus lavender is bold enough where it’s not too distracting for work. But it adds just enough color to show off your personal style at work. Black pairs nicely with the lavender. This tapered suit jacket can be worn as a professional piece for work and by adding the matching pants it “shows business woman with syle”. But the color and material of it allows you to transform this look for the evening.
I typically wear flats to work. Main reason being I’m on my feet some of the time, and wearing flats provide comfort. Once I leave work, I transition into some sexy black sandals with stylish design to dress up the look. For a business style accessories should be kept modest and tasteful. So for the business look I’ve only added a small black purse and black leather wach. For the transformation, I added a dazzling choker to this look.
And finally you’re make-up can be transformed as well. At work I started off with a simple look. Lipgloss and lipliner to add to my lips and a natural look for the face. Once you begin to get ready for the evening look, add some color to the lips. I went for this bold red to add to my sexy evening look.
There are so many ways you can dress a business casual look up. That suit jacket or blazer can be worn to work and also out to that dinner party once you’re off. Go through your closet and play with adding colors, accessories, and a different shoe!! Stay beautiful ladies!!!
This is the first time I’ve created a specific look just for a movie. I had to tell myself step outside your comfort zone, and be bold. It’s always good to remind myself, ” I live for ME!” So honestly no one else really matters. Well no one’s opinions, especially when it comes to what I’m wearing. If you refer to my prev post “Birthday Blues” I mention embracing your style. I wanted to embrace not only my style but the culture that arose from this movie.
The movie “Black Panther” sets in the nation of Wakanda. If you didn’t know anything about Black Panther, let me tell you he’s a Marvel superhero. Now Wakanda is a fictional East African country which was created by Marvel. There are stories like these that lead you to believe some of the facts about Wakanda maybe true. There’s some truth to most fictional stories, you just have to find it.
For this look I decided to wear a DIY Afrocentric tube top. The weather was actually nice for this attire. I paired it with some high waist jeans from Fashion Nova. Y’all know that’s my spot! The orange velvet kimono is one of my favorites. I got it from a Forever 21, another one of my favs. I figured a bright color and this royal material will portray as if I’m really from Wakanda. I actually wrapped my hair with a head scarf. There are so many ways you can wear scarves. I thought wearing it this way would display more of an afrocentric look.
It’s not only the movie that has motivated this look, but just being an African American woman says it all. This look has definitely inspired me to embrace my culture and remain confident while doing it. As you all know I’m big on confidence. So I feel like I pulled it off well. Despite my outfit the movie was great. There’s always something you take from movies, whether it be the meaning behind it, the message or the fashion!! This was a great movie, and I’m hoping you find out for yourself and go see it. I’m ready to go to Wakanda!
